Galbaling ngarruk (Stone axe)
Our Elders govern our peoples and oversee Law, trade and marriages. We regularly meet with our neighbouring nations for ngargee (ceremony) and cultural business. Our senior men govern men’s business and our senior women govern women’s business.
Ngurungaeta (headmen) have many responsibilities for upholding Law and order and for dealing with breaches of the Law. The severity of the punishment depends on the particulars of the crime and could be “a talking to”, spearing, or banishment.
