Kooyang (Eels)

Our Creation Ancestor Budj Bim diverted our waterways, formed wetlands, and gave us resources to live a fairly sedentary lifestyle by creating Mt Eccles and its lava flow Budj Bim gave us a variety of foods: kooyang (eels), fish, tupongs, wild turnip and river ribbon reeds, as well as yams and other root veggies. He also gave us plants and leeches for medication.

We built our houses from volcanic stones in a circular pattern, with our doorways facing east to keep away the wind and the rain. We lived a fairly rich lifestyle.
