Museum Shop

The Museum Shop stocks a wide range of opals, jewellery, homewares, indigenous artworks, books and merchandise. The Museum shop endeavours to work with Victorian and Australian suppliers, social enterprises and local designers and artisans to curate a product range which references Melbourne Museum’s collections and supports Australian designers, artists and suppliers.  

All profits from the Museum Shop goes back to Museums Victoria, to support exhibitions, research, programming and other activities.

Alperstein Designs

These products are designed and developed in Australia by the creative team at Alperstein Designs. Alperstein Designs collaborates with prominent Australian Artists and Designers to produce a unique range of products, including ceramics, homewares, hand creams and soaps. The purchase of these items ensures royalties are paid to the artists who have creatively collaborated with Alperstein Designs. Artist biographies, and the story connected to the artist’s work can be seen on the printed packaging.

Tjanpi Desert Weavers

Tjanpi Desert Weavers is a social enterprise that enables women in the central and western deserts to earn their own income from fibre art. Tjanpi field officers regularly travel to these communities to purchase art works from the artists, provide materials, hold development workshops and facilitate grass collecting trips. Each piece is one off, hand-made and supports Indigenous women.

Earth Fire Opals

Established in Hobart Tasmania, Earth Fire Opals are set into custom crafted bespoke pieces of handmade jewellery to showcase and accentuate the inherent beauty of each unique opal. All specimens are hand cut and crafted by owner and designer Luke Eliasz into contemporary, often one of a kind collector pieces.

Earth Fire Opals are active members of both the Australian Opal Association, and the Jewellers Association of Australia ensuring the highest integrity and offering assurance that each specimen is a genuine Australian opal.

Kakadu Plum

Kakadu Plum Co. are committed to contributing to Aboriginal Indigenous communities. They value native Indigenous bush food that has been generally unknown to non-Indigenous people for years. Now, Kakadu Plum Co. wants to bring awareness about the importance and value of not only Kakadu Plum, but the Australian Native Food Industry as a whole. All products are Australian made and support Indigenous communities. 

Amber Jewellery and specimens 

Our Amber jewellery range is broad and set into bespoke settings, custom made for each individual and unique specimen.  All pieces are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.  The collection includes specimens of varying types, including amber with inclusions, butterscotch, cognac and cherry. 

Myrtle and Moss 

Myrtle & Moss was launched in late 2010 with a stylish, scented botanical skincare range. This range made in Victoria, is sought after by a strong following of customers who delight in the scents achieved by the finest essential oil blends such as Bergamot Rind from Calabria in Italy, Egyptian Geranium Leaf Oil and Lemon Myrtle from northern New South Wales.
